Srinagar March 11 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned the summoning of his younger son Dr. Syed Naseem Geelani by NIA and said that rulers and its agencies have ‘stooped to the lowest level of moral and ethical bankruptcy, which no sane person can even think of’. In a statement issued to KNO, Geelani said that “we have explained our point of view in closed doors as well as in open public.” He further said that hatred and witch-hunt against Kashmiris is at its peak outside valley and most of the Kashmiris have been threatened, tortured and dragged out of their residences, educational institutions and hostels, forcing many of them to return home leaving their studies and business. “In such a charged atmosphere common Kashmiri feels unsafe and relatives of pro-freedom people will surely be targeted and in such a disturbing atmosphere we can’t afford to risk the life of anybody travelling out of valley,” he said. Geelani said that if questioning anybody including his son is must, they can do so in the Valley. “Delhi rulers and its agencies harass and intimidate my family just to pressurize me, but these cowardly acts will yield nothing for them,” he added. He said that in 2017 also, when ghost of NIA threatened every freedom loving person, particularly their families including common and businessman, “we voluntarily offered ourselves to be questioned by the investigating agency, but very cunningly the authorities didn’t dare to face us.” He said that if Delhi rulers treat them as law breakers and want to clarify their doubt’s, “I once again offer myself for such questioning and my past more than 50 years political career stands testimony to the fact that all the agencies, overt or covert, are well aware of my political stand.” “I have been facing atrocities, curbs, jails, interrogation by the occupier for the last 7 decades and how can they even think of any compromise by me using such mean and childish actions of threatening and humiliating my children,” he said, adding that “I have consciously and will fully adopted this torturous and thorny path of perusing the movement for the basic and fundamental rights of my nation, and no power on earth can deter me from this holly mission.” Geelani said that such maneuvering, much hyped-drama and sensational media narratives may have electoral dividends for the ruling class, but can never lease their stay for too long. Meanwhile, paying tributes to slain youth of Tral encounter, Geelani said that this conflict continues to suck the blood of humans in large scale. “Only the arrogance and deceitful attitude of the oppressor is responsible for this unending bloodshed and we as a nation can never compromise with this sacred mission of our martyrs,” he said.(KNO)
